Journey into the Arctic summer

North of Norway, North West Russia
The third edition of the art, research and commissioning project Dark Ecology travels through the border zone between Norway and Russia, with events in the Pasvik Valley and Kirkenes (NO) as well as in the surroundings of Nikel (RU). Over the course of five days, a group of more than 50 artists, researchers, curators, writers and organisers, travel from Northern Norway to North West Russia.
Time's Up 'Near-future scenario'

The Physical Narrative is based upon a sketched near-future scenario on current developments with ocean pollution. The scenario imagines a decade time span with some critical juncture arising forcing a sudden banning of heavy oil driven ocean transport and the subsequent emergence of green transport.

Northern Norway and Northern Russia
The second edition of the art and research project Dark Ecology begins in Kirkenes in Norway’s northern extremes and travels via Nikel to Murmansk, Russia. Dark Ecology is a three-year art, research and commissioning project, initiated by the Amsterdam based art organisation Sonic Acts and Kirkenes-based curator Hilde Methi, in collaboration with Norwegian and Russian partners.

Five groups work for one week in the sub-Arctic Lapland. Together with a team of five selected collaborators, they develop, test and evaluate specific interdisciplinary approaches in relation to the notion of Hybrid Ecology.
